It’s an Honor to Help

The ferocity of Hurricane Harvey was stunning. We will continue to see the aftereffects of Harvey and those of Hurricane Irma for months and perhaps years to come. “The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.” - President Barack Obama

Major Event Trailers is deeply honored to have been stationed at ExxonMobil refinery in Beaumont, Texas, offering our services to those in need. The outpouring of support, love and goods from Americans all over our country has been heartwarming. We spent time and shared story with people who were suffering from the effects of the hurricane and those who had come to help with disaster relief. Many conversations were wrenching yet the spirit to survive and rebuild is beyond admirable.  The impact of this experience is something we will never forget.

Being in Beaumont changed us by no small measure due to the countless random acts of kindness and the enormous generosity of heart shown by so many.

We send our love, thoughts and prayers to the wonderful people of Texas and Florida who have been so severely afflicted by these natural disasters.

Summer Event Planning

When we weren’t looking, summer showed up! No one really knows where the time goes, but here we are! Calendars are filling up with fun events and you might even be planning some big ones of your own. When you sit down to make your To Do List, do not forget that you might very well need some extra bathroom facilities at your venue.

It’s funny how many people forget that. They check off the invitations and announcements and food and lighting and decorations and entertainment and permits and parking, and never give a thought to those bathrooms. Well, that’s what we’re here for.

Think party and wedding and quinceaƱera and concert. Maybe a family or school reunion, or a block party. Whatever you’re going to put on, everyone is going to have to go at some point or another. For real.

We’re the bathroom people. We’ll bring exceptional portable bathroom facilities right to you. Our 25-foot long durable commercial grade portable restroom trailers are built to withstand high volume traffic and unpredictable weather conditions. The women’s bathroom interior features four private flushing toilet stalls, purse hooks and changing tables. The separate men’s restroom interior is equipped with two water-less urinals and two private flushing toilet stalls.

We also offer an ADA Accessible Trailer.  It is a 28-foot long, family-friendly portable luxury restroom equipped to serve individuals with disabilities and families with small children. The women’s restroom interior features three private flushing toilet stalls, purse hooks and changing tables. The men’s restroom interior is equipped with two water-less urinals and one private flushing toilet stall. The large separate, private ADA accessible/family-stall is equipped with wheelchair ramps, handrails, sinks, and a changing table.

How about a 3-station Black Tie unit that comes with 2 women’s bathrooms and 1 men’s bathroom? All stalls are spacious with beautiful hands-free glass bowl sinks with vanity mirrors. It includes hands free pedal flush toilets, air-conditioning and heat, hot and cold running sink water, soap and paper towel dispensers, CD player – AM/FM radio, counter top sinks with vanity mirrors, interior and exterior lighting, easy fold up aluminum steps and fully stocked soap dispensers, hand towels, toilet paper and trash baskets.

We could tell you everything here, or you can Take a Look at all of the possibilities we offer. We also have a portable shower trailer if you’re planning a sporting activity.

Make your event truly memorable. We’d be delighted to help. And, oh, how grateful your guests will be!

Lake Isabella is a beautiful place to camp, kayak, fish... and have a company event!

Recently Major Event Trailers had the pleasure of getting out to the beautiful canyons in Central California. One of our awesome clients hosted their company event at Lake Isabella. This is a great place for fishing, camping, kayaking and all that outdoor stuff we love!

While enjoying the outdoors and roughing it a bit, it is so refreshing to have an on-demand hot water showers plus luxury VIP restroom trailers and an ADA accessible restroom trailer available. What a great perk to have our mobile trailers delivered for their employees.

We came and set up our equipment, and as we drove away we saw our clients enjoying the event equipped with our luxury mobile shower and deluxe bathroom trailers. It's wonderful to be one with nature but having the comforts of home available to you, makes the experience so much more.

We would love to be a part of your company or corporate event. Call us at (800) 946-9610 or contact us on our website.

Thank you guys so much. We really appreciated your services. -Client

The 2017 Oscars are Coming!

This Sunday, February 26th, the televised Oscar ceremony starts at 5:30 p.m. on ABC, and will also stream online at abc.com or on the ABC app. If you’re a movie fan, or celebrity watcher, or a fashion hound, you won’t want to miss it. Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, for the first time, the show also promises some political commentary from those at the microphone. Regardless of who the winners are, people will be talking about this show the next day. Some, perhaps, with their hair still on fire.

If you’re planning an Oscar party and have invited some friends over, here are some ideas for what to serve. Since the show starts early enough to have dinner, you probably won’t want to serve only nibbles. Think a tick up from a tailgate party. And remember that people will be glued to the TV, so have enough space for everyone to put a plate or glass down. Unless your TV is perfectly positioned, your guests won’t be sitting around a dining table. They’ll be grabbing whatever seating you have. (Thankfully there are still adults who are happy sitting on the floor.) A buffet is the best idea and gives you a chance to put out whatever you feel like. It doesn’t have to all be part of a theme, and will give you an opportunity to put out an array of food that will appeal to everyone. You can put out a big pot of chili with side plates of chopped onions and grated cheese. You can make a big lasagna (or heat up a frozen one) with a bowl of salad and a cutting board with garlic bread sliced on the bias. You can do the same with a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs. Make sure you have something without meat if anyone in your group is a vegetarian. You can also make, or order in, sandwich platters. Don’t forget the potato salad and coleslaw and pickles. Put out bowls of nuts and a platter with cut up vegetables and maybe a spinach dip? And everyone likes nachos. There’s also the old standby of a cheese plate. Put some apple slices and clumps of grapes around the cheese to make it pretty. You can also put out a bowl of fruit, or a fruit salad. If nothing else, those will pretty up your table. Put out the dessert choices at the same time. Brownies, or cookies, or whatever sounds good to you. Leave everything out until your guests have left. People like to nosh.

What to drink? Believe it or not, champagne goes with everything. And this is a party. (What do you think the Oscar folks are drinking?) You can also put out a full bar, or just beer and soft drinks.
A fun thing to do is hand out ballots to your guests. You can Download Ballot here and print them out. Don’t forget the pencils! You can give prizes to the winners. Anything you like will do. How about a gift certificate to a movie theater in your neighborhood? Or a gift card to Target (who doesn’t shop at Target?) or even a bottle of beribboned wine. Or everything that’s left from the dessert tray? And what about the person who didn’t pick any winners? We’ll leave that prize to you, but having to help clean the kitchen just doesn’t sound fair, does it?

Make sure that your friends who are driving home are sober enough to do it. If some folks had too much fun please make other arrangements for their transportation.

And the winner is....You! Because you just had the best Oscar party ever. Beware. They may expect you to do this again next year.

Happy Valentine's Day from Major Event Trailers

Roses are red...

...violets are blue. You know how this little poem goes. What you might not know is what all of the colors of roses represent. Valentine’s Day seems to almost scream red roses, but you have so many other choices, and each color will say something slightly different to your beloved.

A red rose of course means love. A pink rose is for appreciation or “please believe me”. Yellow can mean joy or gladness or “remember me”. Yellow with a red tip is for falling in love. Orange is for desire or enthusiasm and coral is also for desire. White roses are classic at weddings, and signify purity and innocence. Red and white together mean unity. Red and yellow together are happy feelings. Peach is for appreciation and “closing the deal”. Lavender or a thorn-less rose are love at first sight.

But how many to give? A single rose will express your utmost devotion. (Although you might want to think twice about this if you think it looks a little, um, paltry.) Two roses entwined together say “marry me”. Eleven roses tell your Valentine that she or he is deeply loved. (Of course if your Valentine can count to twelve, there might be a question about where the missing one is, since roses seem to be sold by the dozen.) Thirteen will say that you’re a secret admirer. The killer move will always be to fill a room with flowers, but that seems to take place mostly in the movies.

And don’t forget the chocolate! People have been known to save (empty) Valentine’s Day chocolate boxes for decades because of the emotions attached to them. To read about the History of Chocolate for Valentine’s Day click and read some fun things. And don’t forget that Valentine candy is always on sale the day after. Do with this little fact what you will.

Wish you all the love Valentine’s Day can bring. If this significant day produces a ring… and marriage is in the air, don't flush your love away by renting a port-a-potty for your wedding. Fall in love with our VIP luxury restroom trailers. Our hands-free flushing toilets with vanity sinks and mirrors will make your event extra special.

We were there for the Karl Strauss Brewing Company 28th Anniversary!

See all the Events for the Karl Strauss Brewing Company in San Diego. They also provide your guests with an amazing venue for private events. How Good is Your Palate?

If you’ve ever watched the Food Network Channel, or any other food channels, you’ve probably seen chefs tasting foods... blindfolded. It’s a contest and they’re trying to prove how good their palates are, and to maybe show off a little. You’d be surprised to see how many of the top chefs can’t get all of the foods right. Their surprise seems to be as intense as their embarrassment.

The game goes like this: Put bites of food out and feed them to your blindfolded friends one by one.  Give them a little time to see if they can tell you what they’re eating, and don’t let them touch! Don’t let your other friends watch or hear what’s going on. Let them watch TV or belly up to the bar while each is waiting his or her turn. And give them all the same foods to taste! Once they’ve taken the test and been scored, they can hang around to watch the next victims. Tally the scores and everyone can help when you put the full portions together and make something to eat!

We’re going to give you some examples of what you can use for testing food and then put together to make a great chicken salad. Chicken salad can be a sort of kitchen-sink recipes where everything goes in. Or it can be specific. This one is a little of both.

First, you need the chicken. Either buy one already cooked, or buy pieces and poach them in chicken stock. This doesn’t take long, even if the chicken pieces are frozen. Cut into them to make sure they’re cooked and there’s no pink showing. Chicken, with nothing on it, tastes a little bland. So you can use bites of it in the game. You want it chilled, so once you’ve sliced or shredded or just cut it up, put it in the refrigerator for a little bit.

Chop up some celery. And some raw zucchini. A lot of people won’t guess right on these, either, and then you can toss it all into the salad. Grapes, too.

Ever had a craisin? It’s a dried cranberry and tastes a little like a raisin. They’re very good and will probably stump your guests. It’ll be delicious in the salad.

Chop up bites of apple. Most people will figure this one out, but it’s nice to let them get one or two right. Throw in some walnuts or almonds. Or put both in the game and both, or one, in the salad.
The dressing can be practically anything. Russian, bleu cheese, mayonnaise with lemon, or bottled-whatever-you-find. It doesn’t have to be fancy Russian, just mix mayonnaise with ketchup. Stop adding when it’s a nice pale pink color.

You don’t have to cook anything if you just want to play. Think of foods that will confuse your friends. From cookies to different kinds of pastas. Then you can order in a pizza. And the winner is exempt from cleaning up the mess. Or just gets to go home with bragging rights. This is also a good way to get kids to try to eat something new. They like playing games and they like playing with food. Perfect!

Karl Strauss event year is kicking off January 28th and Major Event Trailers will be there!

Karl Strauss Brewing Company is celebrating its 28th anniversary with a blow-out Changing of the Barrels event on Saturday, January 28th. Tickets are going fast, so don't miss out!! Tickets. They will also be celebrating their “2016 Mid-Size Brewing Company of the Year" award. Congratulations!

The brewery will be debuting its 28th Anniversary Bourbon Barrel-Aged Belgian Quadruple and a chance to taste the 29th Anniversary brew before it spends a year in barrels. A pairing menu from Mastiff Sausage Company loaded with treats with a gourmet twist will also be offered.

Live music from local jazz/funk/maestros of smoothness Juicebox will no doubt rock the house.

Happy news for us at Major Event Trailers, we have been invited back to provide the VIP restroom trailer for all KSBC's 2017 in-house events. As much as good food and good music go with breweries, so do top-of-the-line restrooms. Dedicated beer drinks are connoisseurs of all things good and worthy. (You can see one for yourself our VIP Trailers.) We were part of the festivities last year, as well, and a good time was had by all. October 22nd Barrel Royale will take you right to it.

Karl Strauss is located at 5985 Santa Fe Street in San Diego. The phone is 858.273.2739. We’ll report back after the event and if you weren’t able to attend, we’ll tell you all about it.

Cheers!
