Roses are red...
A red rose of course means love. A pink rose is for appreciation or “please believe me”. Yellow can mean joy or gladness or “remember me”. Yellow with a red tip is for falling in love. Orange is for desire or enthusiasm and coral is also for desire. White roses are classic at weddings, and signify purity and innocence. Red and white together mean unity. Red and yellow together are happy feelings. Peach is for appreciation and “closing the deal”. Lavender or a thorn-less rose are love at first sight.
But how many to give? A single rose will express your utmost devotion. (Although you might want to think twice about this if you think it looks a little, um, paltry.) Two roses entwined together say “marry me”. Eleven roses tell your Valentine that she or he is deeply loved. (Of course if your Valentine can count to twelve, there might be a question about where the missing one is, since roses seem to be sold by the dozen.) Thirteen will say that you’re a secret admirer. The killer move will always be to fill a room with flowers, but that seems to take place mostly in the movies.
And don’t forget the chocolate! People have been known to save (empty) Valentine’s Day chocolate boxes for decades because of the emotions attached to them. To read about the History of Chocolate for Valentine’s Day click and read some fun things. And don’t forget that Valentine candy is always on sale the day after. Do with this little fact what you will.
